Here some presentations about it Chariot Solutions | Presentations, well after 1.5 days spent (just for fun) to try RoR I still prefere somthing like Appfuse (or in any case a combination of WebWork + Hibernate or Ibatis + Spring).
Many reasons, first of all with ruby it’s more what you write on the console than on the code… Ok it’s fine to do not have huge classes and methods… But is this the proper way?
Another thing that I never liked of ruby is the syntax, for the html pages (.rhtml…) is fine and pretty… For the code… Mhmm… I still prefer the Java/.net Style.
Some people talk badly about performance and scalability…
I definitely prefer Ruby and Ruby on Rails to Php, on this I have no doubts and I hope that It will become the standard as php is now for the web, in the end you’re more forced to develop with an OO design and some good practices…

Mi incuriosisce sapere che posto ha RoR in TW: viene utilizzato? Su che tipo di progetti? Per quanto riguarda Java invece, quali sono le tecnologie che vanno per la maggiore? WebWork + H8-Ibatis + Spring? O altro, magari sviluppato in TW?

Allora, per ora ho fatto una settimana di pratiche, ora sono a Bangalore in India e comincio l’Immersion lunedi’.
Immersion = training e simulazione di un progetto di 6 mesi in 2 settimane…

Per Ruby c’e’ un grosso entusiasmo, all’interno della intranet usano un po’ di tutto, anche plone…
CMQ sono molto piu’ focused sulle metodologie, mi hanno raccontato che han dovuto fare un progetto in php e l’intero team non lo sapeva prima
Un po’ come dire l’importante non sono i mezzi ma il modi con cui si raggiunge il fine.

Sì, so che sono molto focused sulle metodologie(XP): mi ponevo la domanda anche per sapere se sono così estremi da avere un approccio del tipo “evito i framework”, uso il più possibile semplici librerie e qualche tool e tutto il resto lo implemento in casa quando ne sento il bisogno e a piccoli passi.
Mi raccomando tienici informati di tutto.
